Overall Rating: ★★★★½

Sigma’s BC 1606L is the top model for the most demanding of riders, even at night. The BC 1606L succeeds in this not only by providing a better overview of the essential information during a ride by hiding the total accumulated functions and cadence if not installed, but also through its backlit readout that delivers optimal readability of information even in the dark. In addition, an integrated storage chip prevents the loss of set values during battery change.

The 1606’s mounting bracket allows the unit to be mounted on the handlebars or on the stem. This is achieved by removing two screws, rotating the mount’s faceplate 90 deg. and reinstalling the screws. This is extremely handy if you already have your handlebars full of lighting equipment or need to mount the computer on a Time Trial bike, etc.

Battery life on the Sigma 1606 is roughly 1 season for the pro cyclist and 2+ seasons for the avid cyclist. Most cyclists can expect to attain 5-7k miles on the computer before the battery needs to be changed.

The computer can be set for two different bicycles (i.e. a road bike and a mtn bike). With the purchase of a second mounting unit, all a rider needs to do is swap the computer over to the second bike, hold down a button and select that bike from the settings.

The top right button will scroll through all the various time settings such as Total Time, Elapsed Time, etc. while the bottom right button will scroll through the Speed, Avg Speed, Distance, etc.

Sigma is the only computer used by the Guinness Cycling Team, SaxoBank and many others.
